Hey there!
We are really excited to have you guys as part of our team! I wanted to take a minute to go over a few details for you guys, because I will forget to say things in person. First of all, a few reasons I believe God is putting this ensemble together...
First of all, God has gifted each of you vocally, or you would most likely not be reading this! I know that God gives us each talents to use for His kingdom, so I want to thank you for being willing to do so. I know that God will bless our church abundantly because of your stewardship and faithfulness.
Second, I am excited that you will be joining us in prayer right before each service. God's word says that if two or more gather together he will be there, so how much should we expect with all of seeking God together?!
Last, I know that seeing you express your worship to God will encourage the congregation to enter into worship themselves. So thanks for your willingness to be involved.
I want to quickly run over some expectations for our group that our current members are fully aware of. I do not expect that we would ever run into problems, but I do know that we serve a God of order and that it would be bad leadership if I did not address these...
- Please know how the songs go when you come to sing. I have posted links here to recordings of the songs, as well as lyrics. I will keep them 1 month in advance so you will have plenty of time to be prepared.
- For now, we would like for everyone to sing melody only. We are trying to gain volume and at this point in time, we do not have the time to arrange harmony parts. You can feel free to sing your own fills or harmonies if we go into a "free worship" section of a service where there is no song being sung or everyone is encouraged to "sing a new song to the Lord." At some point in the future, I hope to be more specific about harmony parts and such.
- Also, we will need to be concious about blending as a vocal group. If you sing loud naturally, you might have to pull back slightly. If you have a quiet voice, feel free to project. We want to achieve a professional sound!
- Last, it would be great if everyone could meet by the stage for prayer 15 minutes prior to the service you are singing at (8:45 or 10:45). We believe that prayer is exceedingly important and effective, and this is among the most important things we could ever do.
Thanks again to everyone for sharing your gifts with us! I look forward to having you guys on Sunday mornings!
